I’m porting the multitouch concept to python. Why? Because i’m on linux now, mono sucks, and PIL is pretty awesome.
I’ve set up a mock-rig where there are 2 mirrors on the side angled by erasers with a crappy Creative NX webcam mounted on a textbook over it. It seems like the only practical use of this is for a multitouch-table sort because gravity makes it otherwise pretty hard to calibrate.
So after I rewrite the software I need to try getting it to parse an actual image. Then I need to somehow hook it up to streaming webcam data, and somehow do something else.
Mono sucks? That’s pretty extreme. But correct I guess. What distribution of Linux are you on?
I’m on Ubuntu Jaunty Jackalope, and it’s not that bad, but it just didn’t happen to run my code I bet it would work if I bothered compiling it with a lower version of VS.
Great! I love Python and I love Linux. I’m also very interested in multitouch, so I’m glad you’re into it, trying to make it easier to set up. You should put up some pictures of your rig when you have it. And show us videos when you’ve got something to show. And put up the source so we can test and maybe even improve.
I came to this site from PyMT (Python Multitouch) I think. Although I don’t remember, I was surfing last night and left some tabs open :p
