I Added Ads Again. Its really quite simple on this new app. I wonder if I can place ads via Windows Live Writer? Trying it out now.

Prototype.js

Well, this blog was *failing* the website optimization test, because for some reason, it would load prototype.js?v=1.6.0 in EVERY PAGE! I looked around on the interwebs and discovered it was because of this plugin named Optimize DB. I removed it, and magically my page load was 1/2 of its size. That plugin sucked anyway, it made me constantly feel like pressing the “Optimize” button just to shave off 1 byte from my DB!!!

I might try porting the Prototype/Script.Aculo.Us used in the articles/pages (from the theme) to some other (lighter) framework (jQuery? Animator.js? Nothing?).

Forum Works/Themes Integrated

I ported spotlight to BBPress successfully! You can see it working correctly now. I’m going to port the gallery

Now, i’m going to move the users over from the old phpfusion system.

Forums

I’ve been trying to install forums. I’ve installed PHPBB3, SMF, and BBPress. For some odd reason, the forum that the WordPress creators made themselves integrates the best (hmm… I wonder…).

 

I’m trying to integrate the themes now. (which shouldn’t be too hard…)

A day of messing around with CSS, PHPBB, and WordPress

I got WP United to install after many hours of struggle (I turns out it only works with WP 2.3, and I got 2.5, so i needed to apply some development patches). After that, I had to get the themes to work. It works a bit now.

Installed WordPress, PHPBB, Migrating Data

I currently successfully installed/configured WordPress, and [painstakingly] copied every article from phpfusion. I have installed PHPBB3, but am not done converting the forums. After that, I will install WP-United, and configure the gallery/etc.

The good thing, is that there are lots of advantages to wordpress over php-fusion, including being able to use a desktop blogging application, and making it my personal blog, versus the homepage for my one project.

I might have to install PHPBB2 in order to use the php-fusion converter, then upgrade to PHPBB3… I donno.

EDIT: I might use WphpBB instead
